Last June 1st we completed session number 7 of a 12 set of the CES project. In that session we sampled 8 birds - 3 newly captured birds and 5 re-traps (you can check the species here). The new captures included 2 juvenile birds. There is a recurring re-trap of the same Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos), it's possible that its nest is near the site where we put up one of the net lines. The re-trap of a Robin (Erithacus rubecula) born in 2012 was the only note to take, besides the 2 juveniles birds.
Session number 8 was at 6th June and had 22 birds recorded in total, 15 new birds and 7 re-traps. We caught 6 juveniles of three different species Great Tit (Parus major), Coal Tit (Parus ater) and Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalus caudatus). We also captured 2 birds that have initiated the post-breeding moult, those birds were from two different species Magpie (Pica pica) and Coal-Tit (Parus ater).
Next session will be in 20th of June, if it isn't raining..."
